Session 63 - The Abbey at Krezk

12/20/2022 Now, at this point, you may be asking, ‘What happened to Woody.’  Allow me to backtrack just a bit. Woody had been dutifully pretending to be inanimate, lest the townsfolk think he was some evil demon. (He might actually be, but if so, he’s our evil demon.)  We found some time unobserved and discussed sending him back with the Martikovs.  They agreed, but very reluctantly.  Woody himself seemed to disapprove of the idea.  Through his sign language and capering about, we realized that he wanted to stay with us.  We decided that I’d carry Walter, and, considering the construct’s weight, Wolfram would carry Woody attached to the pack on his back.  We could tell people he was a project I was working on, if necessary. I’ve already written about arriving at the Abbey.  We waited for about 10 minutes or so, until the most classically handsome man I’d ever seen came walking out.  In fact, the word handsome may not be an adequat...

Session 62 - Entering Krezk

12/13/2022 Once we were inside, Wolfram pointed out that the guards here were much better equipped than what we’d seen elsewhere.   These were actual guardsmen, not hirelings with pitchforks or scrounged weapons.   The Burgomaster himself carried two swords – one on his hip and a great sword on his back. Just as his eye was drawn to the tools of his profession, my eye was similarly attracted.   Though walled, the village was decently wooded with cottages tucked in between the trees.   We saw small livestock pens and villagers working in and around the area.   It was almost like something out of the fairytales Julianna used to tell Darius when he was small. Towering above all this was a steep cliff, with the Abby itself sitting like a crown over the village. It was also quite cold here.   It wasn’t snowing, but it felt like winter might not be far off. Burgomaster Krezkov led us through the village.   He was a little more friendly now, b...

Session 61 - Weren't we just here?

12/6/2022 I couldn’t help it.   A slight giggle escaped my lips watching those little twig bastards getting blown up.   But there were still a hell of a lot of them. I heard Wolfram ask, “Is anyone else getting hot?” I glanced over and saw waves of heat coming off Wolfram’s armor.   Odd, he really wasn’t anywhere near the blast. It shouldn’t have affected him. Dasco yelled, “There!   Behind that tree.” Laz and Wolfram headed off towards someone or something in the woods.   I couldn’t really tell as I had more of those twig monsters starting to swarm me.   I swung with my staff but didn’t connect so I tried putting some distance between me and the creatures. Oloch, for his part, was smashing and cutting the blights left and right, happily humming all the while. Dasco was launching arrows past Laz and Wolfram at whatever they were chasing.   While his attention was downrange, he had a blight climbing up him.   I blasted it with a fir...
