Session 103 – Now they want our help

Image
10/24/23 The sight of the dead woman was upsetting to several of the villagers, though they tried to hide it.   We calmed them as we could, and tried to assure them that if the remaining werewolves were turning on their own, that was ultimately a good thing. They seemed mollified, but now weren’t so keen on waiting on the road for us to check the cave.   It was decided that they would leave the handcarts on the road, and accompany us up the mountain, at least as far as the mouth of the cave. As we picked our way up, we started hearing the occasional wolf howls.   The first one was quite aways off and seemed to be heading down the hill. A few minutes later, we heard another one and the sound of something moving away from us through the brush, perhaps a hundred yards away.   Then another howl and more movement away.   I had the impression that these wolves were tracking and marking our location, but afraid to get too close. Dasco suddenly stopped...

Session 102 - Wolfram and the Abbot

The following was co-Authored by Abe Barker. Thanks Abe! 10/17/23 There is an incident that I neglected to address in my last posting. After I identified the properties of the amulet and handed it to Wolfram, I saw a rare excitement in his face. He thanked me and examined the amulet for himself. He looked up, then back at the amulet. Then up and back at the amulet. This went on for about 30 seconds before Laz said, “You want to try it now.” It wasn't a question. “Yes. Very much. Is that weird?” Wolfram asked. As he spoke, his gaze never left the surface of the amulet. I chuckled. “No. No it’s not.” “Go play,” said Laz. Wolfram looked up, a cheerful smile on his face. Ireena, who had been watching and listening silently, then reached out to rest a hand on his shoulder. “Please wait, Sir Wolfram. It occurs to me we might want to invite a few people to watch. The Baron, for one, and perhaps some of the villagers.” "What are you proposing, Lady Ireena?" Wolf...

Session 101 – Deal with the Abbot.

Image
10/10/23 Our business with the Abbott apparently concluded, we took our leave and made the long hike back down to the village.   We checked in at the Burgomaster’s home.   Anna was looking a bit frazzled, but Walter and their son Ilya were keeping the kids entertained.   Anna told us that her husband had decided he had urgent business at his smithy.   I bet he did.   With all the chaos of the children here, I felt like I had urgent business at the smithy as well. We found the burgomaster at his anvil, as promised.   He was absently hammering on some piece of metal and didn’t seem terribly distracted by our arrival. I had the impression the only thing he was making was noise. He greeted us warmly. We talked about finding shelter for ourselves and the children for the night.   He said he would inquire quietly to several families who he felt were trustworthy and find temporary lodging for the kids.   Permanent placement would come later. ...

Session 100 - Back to Krezk

10/3/2023 Admittedly, it took me a little longer to get down the stairs than my compatriots.   Oloch actually stayed behind to corral the children. By the time I caught up with the others, the remaining wolves and werewolves were gone, so we headed back to the area where the children had been held   I started ritually casting Detect Magic while Laz was poking around through the treasure piled at the base of the statue. While I was completing my spell, the others began sorting and organizing the treasure.   There were a considerable number of coins and jewels as well as some jewelry and other assorted items.   And copper pieces.   By the Gods, there were a lot of them.   Were they stealing from wishing wells too? Once my spell was finished, I noted that there was a pendant that was clearly emanating some sort of magical aura.   The pendant was a platinum disk with sunbeams emerging from it, with a well cut ruby in the center. After sor...

Session 99 - Inside the Werewolf Den part 2

9/26/23 There were only two wolves and one werewolf left.   Shiny Armor Wolfram jumped forward and stabbed one before it could bite me a second time. A flash of a ghost hand caught my eye, before it landed on the werewolf, which promptly collapsed.   Hm.   Must have been Sneaky Laz. Suddenly spears fly and kill the last two wolves.   Das-co’s spear. No more enemies.   Pretty Ireena and others talk.   What to do now?   I think we go find where wolves run, but they don’t understand me.   Shiny Armor Wolfram touches wounds on Loud Oloch and wounds go away. We go up in the cave, but it is very small for me.   Hard to pass between some rocks.   I hear something crying down one corridor.   I point.   They understand pointing. We go that way and the cave is bigger.   Cages.   Three and three cages.   Crying children inside.   Loud Oloch and the others run forward to open cages and get children out...
