Session 169 – Water zombies

  7/14/25 Day 43 Laz moved back to the northern group of cells to open the few remaining locks.   I waded through the fetid water and watched him work.   Behind me I heard Wolfram talking to Lady Ireena.   Seldom had I heard the Paladin so tongue tied. He explained the circumstances of finding the magic sword, but he was stumbling over his words like a nervous teenager talking to the prettiest girl at the fair.   I had suspected that he was developing stronger feelings for Lady Ireena, and this conversation seemed to confirm it. I won’t (because I can’t) try and quote everything Wolfram told her.   But he ended it with, “…And that’s why I want you to have this sword.” She accepted the sword with her expected grace and confirmed that she also detected the sword’s emotions. Session 167 – Now you see them…

  6/17/25 Day 43 The staircase stretched down and away from us at a steep angle.   I was concerned at first that the stairs might be trapped and collapse into a slide of some sort, but it didn’t make sense for someone to disable the glyph but leave another trap intact right in front of it. At the bottom of the stairs was a door. Laz checked it, then opened it without difficulty.   The first thing we (well, I) noticed was a large brazier in the center of the room.   There was a tall, white flame burning that gave off no heat.   Above the brazier was a large hourglass.   When I say large, I mean approximately dwarf sized. While there was sand in the hourglass, it was all stuck at the top – as if it had been blocked off at the waist.   On either side of the room were two large statutes, perhaps two or two and a half dwarves high.   The statues were of armored men mounted on war horses.
