Session 143 – The Ritual at Yester Hill Part 1

Image
12/30/24 Day 41 – Afternoon/evening Connell excitedly explained that he had seen “The Mountain” arrive earlier this morning and fight several of the Yester Hill Druids.   He was victorious and as such, was apparently the new leader of this group, as they all followed him North. This was good news for us, as it implied we might not have to worry about the druids trying to stop us. Connell went on to tell us that he had been studying the Fanes and the ceremony since returning to his tribe.   He felt confident that he could take over the spiritual aspect of cleansing this Fane – much as Muriel had at the first one. However, while waging this spiritual battle, his physical form would be vulnerable.   Our job would be to keep his body safe while he was doing whatever metaphysical voodoo he needed. He continued chatting excitedly with Wolfram as we walked.   I noticed that Kasimir was lagging considerably behind.   I waited for him to catch up and a...

Session 136 & 137 – Battle at Krezk Pool part 1

7/9/24 & 7/16/24 Day 40 While Wolfram had reduced their numbers by almost half, there were still many more in the fight.   I was surrounded; hands reaching, grabbing. I flew up 15 feet, out of the fray, then zoomed over to the cover of trees.   More undead approached.   Once climbed up the tree next to me, but I simply flew out of his reach and observed the battlefield. Chaos.   Undead literally exploded around Ireena and her protective circle.   Oloch, Wolfram and Laz were dragged back into the pool by the crayfish creatures but a flurry of blade strokes told me they were cutting their way free. Dasco was stabbing wildly about himself but was being overrun. “Fireball!!   Fireball!!” I heard him yell. Yes.   Fireball indeed. Hovering above, I shot a fireball down into the thick of them. More bodies exploded out. Trees caught fire. No matter. These are just delays.   Distractions to be dealt with.   Our real...

Session 129 - Lady Ireena's perspective

(Thanks to Abe for authoring!)  5/21/24 Day 39 Despite it being fairly close to the rest of Barovia, the Amber Temple is a near-mythological place. Throughout all of my lives, none of us have ever approached it, let alone explored it. This was new ground, for all of us. Since my friends and I arrived and began exploring its frigid chambers and halls, I have spent considerable time, unnoted by the others, examining the intricately carved walls and doors of ‘amber’ throughout this place. The craftsmanship is remarkable, but despite its similar appearance and consistency, I have come to believe that it is not truly amber. Rather, the doors and walls are made of an arcane substance of similar appearance and with much the same purpose - to contain and preserve that which lies within. I have considered damaging a random wall to see if it would ‘heal’ itself, but up until now, have decided to forgo any exploration along those lines. Since we arrived here, I have cast my mind back through ...
