Session 190 – The Wedding Ceremony Part 9

12/2/25 Day 43  Panic still ruled the stairwells of Castle Ravenloft. The Vistani Team Leader struggled to drag his unconscious comrade down the northwest staircase, but the steps were thick with terrified guests pushing, shoving, and tripping over one another in a frantic crush that made descent nearly impossible. Elsewhere, two other Vistani soldiers bolted up the southeast tower stairs, seeking escape wherever they could find it. Near the throne dais, sunlight still knifed through the gloom, and creatures of darkness recoiled from it. One vampire spawn scrambled down the wall like a panicked spider, lunging at Wolfram but failing to land the blow. He darted northwest again, fleeing from the burning radiance. Wolfram’s knife hissed uselessly through the air after him. Even the angel let the creature pass without raising its blade. The devils pressed on. A Bearded Devil slashed at Wolfram with his glaive, missing entirely. Another one failed to strike either the angel or Sir...

Session 189 – The Wedding Ceremony Part 8

Written by Abe Barker.   (Battle partially summarized by AI.)   Part VIII — The Line Holds   Karl Wachter rose beside Lady Ireena with an expression that did not belong in a battlefield—quiet regret softening a face smeared with dust and fear.   “I deeply regret the actions of my family,” he murmured.   Before she could answer, he clambered over the shattered edge of the pew, boots slipping on splintered wood. His gaze fixed on the bearded devil looming in the treasury doorway.   “Leave the lady alone!”   With a surge of desperate courage, Karl seized the devil’s arm and hauled the fiend backward into the treasury. The two crashed through the threshold in a tangle of limbs and snarling infernal fury. Karl slammed the door. The last glimpse was of his back braced against it, using his own body as a barricade.   Lady Ireena hesitated—just long enough for grief, respect, and dread to ripple across her face. Then she turned, moving sw...

Session 188 – The Wedding Ceremony Part 7

11/18/25 Day 43  The battle in the Audience Hall had become a storm with too many centers—radiance, fire, frenzy, and death all colliding in a space too small to contain them. A lone vampire spawn—once a man, now little more than a skittering shadow—scuttled up the western wall like an oversized insect. He vanished through a broken panel of stained glass, slipping into the howling night beyond. Another spawn vaulted a pew with feral grace and hurled itself at Wolfram, ignoring the sunlight beaming from the Amulet of the Ravenkind. Its claws scraped harmlessly against the Paladin’s armor. However, the spawn that had been holding Wolfram in place this whole time suffered the full brunt of the amulet.  The moment the sunlight flared, the creature’s face liquefied. Fingers convulsed, then dropped away as the vampire disintegrated into drifting cinders. Wolfram staggered forward—free for the first time in far too long. Then came the tiger. Lily—once a beast, now a vampiric predator...

Session 187 – The Wedding Ceremony Part 6

Day 43  For a moment, the chaos in the hall shifted—less a battle line and more a living storm, breaking in every direction at once. The bearded devils were the first to waver. One turned and bolted north, only to take a punishing blow across the spine from Oloch as it fled. Another advanced on Wolfram, its glaive carving great arcs through the air, but the paladin—still haloed by the fading memory of sunlight—slipped every strike. Then Bishop Finn, eyes clouded with Strahd’s domination, stepped back and raised his hands once more. The silvery column of Moonbeam crashed down over Laz, Dacso, Vasilka, and Ismark, searing them with ruthless celestial fire. The bishop withdrew immediately after, vanishing through the southern archways like a ghost fleeing the scene of its own crime. Zuleika ran as well—this time without hesitation or hesitation’s shadow—sprinting toward the chapel with the single-minded urgency of a wounded wolf. Hal bolted east, choosing stairs over sense. And then t...

Session 186 – The Wedding Ceremony Part 5

10/28/25 Day 43  The air is thick with smoke from the torches and the metallic tang of blood. Incense battles the stench of sweat and fear; every breath feels heavy, cloying. The garlands and banners hanging from the rafters are stirred by the violent motions of those below. Vistani 2nd Team Leader Wenzel  Wenzel is still frightened by Laz, but the Chamberlain has ordered him to intensify the Vistani’s attacks, to ‘use the flat of your blades’ - so he lashes out, barely missing Oloch. The blade bounces off Oloch’s recently-acquired armor. The clang rings in Oloch’s ears. Three hours ago, that would have been a hit.  Vistani Blades #5 - #7 Blade #5 - Vano lashes out at Oloch as well. His blade striking home for 5 hp of damage, taking Oloch to 24  “Sorry, lad,” the bladesman apologizes, “A contract’s a contract, you know.”  Blade #6 - Hanzi, moving in from behind Julianna, clambers over the back of the pew and moves in to surround the beleaguered Oloch, advancing ...
